Publicity leaflet for songbook |
Towards the end of 1967 and beginning of
1968, the Crossbeats song album was published, and sold
reasonably well. The songbook was made possible by John and Brenda Courtie, a young Christian couple living in Bootle. They put in a lot of time transcribing the songs from tape to sheet music - checking occasionally on chords used. John Courtie later entered the ministry of the Church of England. At the present time (2002), he is Anglican Rector of 5 villages - Blisworth and Stoke Bruerne with Grafton Regis and Alderton in the diocese of Peterborough UK. Brenda Courtie is currently a member of the Association of Christian Writers Some of the transcribed songs that they produced were also used in a new youth songbook in 1969 called "Youth Praise 2, and also in Buzz magazine.". |
